George Oswalt has spent the past ten years working on several series of paintings that deal with weightlessness, loss, and life transitions. Figures and objects in vivid colors become metaphors of time and space. George sees his paintings as visual performances. The imagery in the work is intended to take the viewer on a journey of time and space that highlights the significant turning points in life. Much like the devices used by screen writers to develop and drive the story to its conclusion, these riffs take you to existential voids.

George Oswalt has a MFA from the University of Oklahoma, as well as a M.Ed in Art Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. He has taught art at Oklahoma City University and other schools throughout Oklahoma. George has exhibited his work extensively since 1974, and has pieces in several public collections including the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art in Shawnee, the Melton Museum of Art in Oklahoma City, and the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art in Norman.
