BIOGRAPHY
Karen Hayes-Thumann is a Professor in the Visual Communications Program at the University of Oklahoma’s School of Art & Art History. She received her BS in Graphic Design from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning, was awarded her MFA from Indiana University in Bloomington and completed her post-graduate studies at Yale’s Brissago Program in Switzerland. Before joining the faculty at the University of Oklahoma, she taught at the University of Cincinnati, Arizona State University, and Carnegie Mellon University. Karen has been a visiting faculty at Birmingham City University, Notre Dame University and the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla in Puebla, Mexico. Her work has been acknowledged in Print Magazine, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and WIPI. She has been the recipient of the Irene and Julian J. Rothbaum Presidential Award for Excellence in the Arts, the Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts Peer Recognition Award, and the School of Art and Art History Colleague’s Award
