BIOGRAPHY
M.J. Alexander explores the people and places of the American West, “combining the vision of an artist with the skills of a storyteller,” according to Oklahoma magazine. Her photographs have been published internationally and exhibited in venues ranging from the Pleiades Gallery of New York City to New Mexico’s Hubbard Museum of the American West, from the Oklahoma State Capitol galleries to Toronto’s Queen Street arts district.
She is the first Oklahoman featured in a solo show in the Main Gallery at the International Photography Hall of Fame. Thomas Jefferson Brown, from her series of centenarian portraits, was named one of the most significant photographs in state history by Oklahoma Today. She is a founding director of the UNESCO-sponsored World Folklore Photographic Association.
